What is ThinkStorm?
ThinkStorm is your intelligent voice-powered thinking buddy designed to help you organize thoughts, take notes, and get answers through natural conversation. Simply speak to ThinkStorm, like you would speak to a friend on the phone, and tell ThinkStorm if you want to prepare notes.
ThinkStorm will get to know you the more you use it!
What can I do with ThinkStorm?
- Working on a story? Narrate incoherent story ideas, ask for inputs and feedback, and get a structured outline.
- Thinking of your next scientific breakthrough? Throw your ideas at ThinkStorm, ask questions to improve them, and create a final summary.
- Recounting a memorable experience? Tell ThinkStorm about it and have it create a journal entry for you.
- Have too many things to do? Brainstorm your plans for the day, and ThinkStorm will create a structured list for you.
- Visiting a new city? Talk to ThinkStorm about your travel interests and constraints and have it create an itinerary.
When should I use ThinkStorm?
ThinkStorm is designed for you to organize your ideas and access all functions in a hands-free and eyes-free way. Just start the app, hit the call button, and start talking. The web version can be used anytime, whether on a walk, on a drive, or just sitting at home — it runs on desktop and mobile through Safari, Chrome, or other Chromium-based browsers.
What happens to my data?
ThinkStorm will store everything locally (your notes and the memory of you and your conversations) unless you hit "Sync Account" in Settings. Syncing allows you to access your data from other devices. At any given time, you can log in from up to two devices. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Getting Started
1. Account Setup
- Sign up with your email address or log in if you already have an account.
- Grant microphone permissions when prompted.
2. Basic Operation
- Open the app and hit the call button to start talking.
- Speak naturally — like you would on the phone.
- ThinkStorm will respond to you after a preset time (2 seconds).
- While there is no need to mute, you can tap the microphone button. Generally, ThinkStorm is smart enough to know what part of your speech was directed at it.
- Hit the End Call button when done.
ThinkStorm will get to know you through conversations and will be able to recall previous conversations. You must hit the End Call button for it to evolve based on the conversation. If you don't want it to remember a conversation, start the call in "Incognito Mode".
Core Features
ThinkStorm responds in a regular conversation, but it can also perform other operations beyond talking back. It can:
- Have a conversation: Just say "Hello" or ask anything — "Which places can I visit in Athens in two days?"
- Take on a persona / speaking style: Say something like "I would like you to play a Greek tourist guide … I am a traveler …"
- Recall prior conversations: Say something like "Remember I told you about my trip to Europe …"
- Take Notes: Say something like "Create a note about my travel plans. I am going to Europe …"
- Modify Notes: Say something like "Update my plans to include your suggested places in Athens."
- Search Notes: Say "Find my note about…" or "Do I have a note about…?" ThinkStorm will respond with what it found; you can then ask questions or modify it.
- Question about ThinkStorm: Ask directly about the app's functionality or issues — "How can I upgrade my subscription on this app?"
- Get to know you: It will tailor the conversation to you the more you use it. If you don't want it to remember a particular call, turn on "Incognito Mode".
Note Management
- All your notes are automatically saved and labeled.
- View, edit, and organize notes in the Notes page.
- Search through your notes using keywords.
- Export or share individual notes.
Subscription Tiers & Braincells
Your usage is measured in "Braincells" — each word you speak or ThinkStorm includes in the response counts as one Braincell. Each word ThinkStorm has to remember to respond to you also counts as one Braincell (the longer the conversation, the faster the Braincell consumption).
- Free: 6,000 Braincells per month.
- Pro: 200,000 Braincells per month ($3.99/month).
- Unlimited: Unlimited Braincells per month ($6.99/month).
The Unlimited tier provides access to additional capabilities:
- Web Search: Up to 30 responses per month that require knowledge of the internet beyond basic intelligence.
- Expressive Voice: ThinkStorm will adopt a speaking style based on the personality you assign to it. Alternatively, you can describe the speaking style (including accent). Up to 20,000 spoken characters per month.
To update your subscription, go to the Settings page and click Edit Subscription.
Settings & Customization
Access settings via the ⚙️ icon to customize:
- Language: The language of the conversation. The default is English, but you can switch to Spanish, Italian, or Hindi.
- Continuous Listening: On — ThinkStorm listens to you throughout the call. Off — ThinkStorm only listens once you say a start phrase (default: "Hey Storm").
- Respond After: Duration of silence for which ThinkStorm will wait before responding. If set to the highest value, ThinkStorm waits for you to say the end keyphrase (default: "over and out"). Use this if you don't want ThinkStorm to interrupt at all.
- Quick Response (Experimental): ThinkStorm responds as it is thinking, resulting in a quicker response time. (Known issues when using this with Hindi.)
- Long Conversation Memory: On (more Braincells) — contextualizes the response based on the complete conversation so far. Off (saves Braincells) — remembers only a summary if the conversation goes too long.
- Higher Intelligence: On (3× Braincells) — better at following conversations and providing assistance. Off (1× Braincells) — basic intelligence, sufficient for most cases.
Account Management: View Braincells usage, sync notes and ThinkStorm's memory across devices, and manage your subscription.
